I Don’t Want To Forget

I close my eyes and I find myself replaying every moment from that weekend. I can still smell the salt, the sunscreen, and the corona. I still feel the sensation of running my fingers through the soft sand and feeling the breeze of the ocean on my face. I can still hear the laughter and the waves crashing under the moonlight.

I replay it over and over because I find the memories fading, my brain reaching to remember the details, and I don’t want to forget any of them. I don’t want to forget how much depth I experienced that weekend. I don’t want to forget all the people I met. I don’t want to forget all the wisdom I gained from those around me. I don’t want to forget how much my stomach hurt from all the laughter. I don’t want to forget how free spirited I was.  I don’t want to forget what it taught me.

But mostly, I don’t want to forget how it forever changed me.
